Heard Around the Track
July 7, 2001 - Ted Abel, who founded the William Tennent girls T&F program in 1974, has decided to call it quits. According to a story in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Abel attributed his decision to
a loss of enthusiasm. He had coached the XC program for 25 of his 28 years, the indoor track team for eight years in two stints, and the T&F team 28 years. His teams claimed seven league T&F championships, including the Suburban One League, Colonial Division this year, plus four league XC titles. He also coached numerous individual champions.
