This space left intentionally (yet reluctantly) empty by Don Rich.
I could fill pages with reasons, stories, disappointments, victories, regrets
and memories. But in the end, it comes down to simple, plain, bottom line economics.
PennTrackXC makes no money, so PennTrackXC is off the 'net.
Two years. Thousands of hours. And no income.
No effort, no matter how enjoyable, rewarding, and helpful, can sustain itself
without some financial return on investment.
Those who know me, know that my wife and I, along with three talented, fun-to-be-around
people, run an advertising and web design business. It is a labor of love. But
more importantly, it is our retirement.
This site has taken an average of 15-20 hours a week for two years. To do it
right, it's more like 20-30 hours. And while there were hints of income here
and there, nothing has materialized. Nor could I devote the additional time
to making something materialize without further impacting my company, its clients,
and employees.
My 'real' business cannot continue to support its unprofitable subsidiary. Fortunately,
I love what I do. It has never really been work.
But my second passion Track & Field and Cross Country reporting for
Pennsylvania's great kids could not justify itself following two years
of effort.
Thanks for everything.
See you around the track.
Don Rich
