Just one year after setting the high school freshman burrito mile world record, and six days after completing the 4x8urrito in a solo effort, Andrew Palmer of Pwn3rs TC claimed the most coveted record of all. A select group of elite burrathletes arranged a top secret, unadvertised assault on the record books Friday night. Palmer ate his burrito in 1:30 and ran a 4:45 mile to break the previous world record of 6:37.49 by 22 seconds! Burritomile.com was on site to ensure proper sanctioning of the meet and confirms that a new world record was set at 6:15.71.

5 Beller-Morales, Walter M Mexico 8:02
6 Shapiro, Zach M Pwn3rs TC 10:40
"This is for the US!" Palmer exclaimed after breaking the record.
The Frenchman Alex Prevost was trying to claim the record for France. It marked the first time in burrito mile history that international implications came in to play. Competing were representatives from the United States, Chile, France, Mexico, and Austria.
Prevost struggled to scarf down his burrito, but Nick Latourette came up big for the French. A non-runner, Latourette devoured his regulation-size Chipotle burrito in 52 seconds before running a 6:50 mile. His time of 7:42 was good for 3rd place.
Dylan Straughan of Chile also had a respectable showing, eating in about 2:32 and running a 4:45 mile for a 2nd place performance in 7:17.83.
Hundreds of people showed up to compete and cheer on the burrathletes, who came from several states. And mainsteam media even got into it. The event was featured in a report on Fox 5.
Burrito Mile Recap on MoCoRunning
Cedric Dana won the elite mile. Dana is a multiple time champion in the event, and in fact remains undefeated.
The world-famous Burrito Mile is happening again! This event was born right here in Montgomery County and has been contested in Georgia and Virginia Tech in the past year. This will be by far the biggest Burrito Mile event ever! Best of all, every penny goes to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help raise money for research and care for children with this disease.
Qdoba is once again being extremely generous and donating the burritos for the event. With several hundred people interested in competing, and hundreds of people expected as spectators, Qdoba will be providing at least 300 burritos to the meet organizers free of charge. This means that 100% of the profit will go to charity.
This event will be at the Walter Johnson High School track in Bethesda, Maryland. This event is not hosted by the school.
PRICES:
$1 for sport drinks
$5 for a t-shirt
$5 to come and watch and eat a burrito
$10 to compete in 1 race (anyone)
$15 to compete in 2 races (only true warriors!)
There will be 4 events this year. Times of each event are estimates. Just show up and choose which event is best for you:
1) High School Freshman/Sophomore - 12:30pm
2) High School Junior/Senior - 1:00pm
3) Open/Elite - 1:30pm
4) 4x8urrito - 2:00pm
We had some server changes that took down the site for a while. But Kevin Milsted asked me to get BurritoMile.com back up in time for the next event.
So here it is! More features will be coming.
WOW! Cedric Dana shatters World Record by over 20 seconds in the Burrito Mile in a time of 6:37.49.
Ian Chow of Team Facial, a team made up entirely of non-runners, chomped down his burrito in an amazing 35 seconds. Ian struggled with the running aspect, however, and Cedric Dana easily caught him after eating his burrito in 55 seconds.
Dana was on the winning 4 x 8urrito, which obliterated the old world record set on June 3 of last year. That record was 21:46 by WJ4×8StateChamps . Today’s winning 4×8urrito BROKE THAT RECORD BY OVER 5:30 in a time of 16:12.
Cedric Dana now owns a Triple Crown, with world records in the 1-burrito mile, the elite 2-burrito mile, and the 4×8urrito.
Veronica Salcido smashed the female world record which was formerly held by Brielle Dana, Cedric Dana’s sister. Salcido’s mark of 8:22 bested the previous record by 1:24.
Maryland showed that they are pros when it comes to pulling this event off. Thanks to event organizer Rafi Moersen, this group from Maryland continues to pioneer the burritolympic games.
The entire state of Maryland was demoralized when the new comers from Georgia had the audacity to steal the crown they invented: the coveted Burrito Mile World Record. To be sure, they intend to go for pride on June 2, 2007 when they will host a sanctioned Burritolympic meet.
The meet will feature both the Burrito Mile (possibly multiple heats) and the 4×8urrito Relay race. This will be the first day both events have been held at the same meet. The first race will go off at 5PM at Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, Maryland on June 2. Everyone is invited to attend.
Will a new world record be set? Will the crown return to Maryland? Or possibly will an out-of-stater take part (Virginians are you listening??) and upset both states? We’ll find out!

Christian Scholz, a junior, consumed his Moe’s burrito (Joey Bag) weight 1.1 lbs in an amazing 1:50 and then cranked out a 5:08.6 mile for a new WR of 6:58.6. The weather was windy, low 80’s and the pollen count above 5000!!! Junior Max Spartz began eating a full 7 seconds before Christian as the inter-squad relay of 400m legs (23 legs) finished as us coaches ran with the burrito on the final relay leg before delivering the burritos to the feed-zone and the waiting burrathletes. Max ate in an incredible 1:48 and took off but was eventually passed by Christian during the 3rd lap of the mile and ran a 5:33.5 for a final time of 7:21.5, breaking the old WR by about 10 seconds.
The relay was an even split of both boy’s and girl’s on the distance squad of the Milton HS track team, and were picked by Christian and Max who also determined the order. Christian’s team (The Slackers) led until the 21st 400m leg when Max’s team (Sick-Nasty) passed them. On the 23rd leg, Coach Carr had about a 16 second lead on Coach Warner but a strong 59-second leg brought The Slackers to within 7 seconds as the burritos were passed to the burrathletes, and the rest they say are history.

The distance track team at Milton High School in Alpharetta, Georgia will hold not only the first ever Burrito Mile in Georgia, but the first outside of the state of Maryland. We here are BurritoMile.com are very excited about this as it seems the sickness of the burritolympics has finally infected those south of the Potomac.
The team will be hosting an inter-squad relay (400m legs) with two teams, and then will conclude with the anchor leg (the captains of the two teams) competing in an official burrito mile. Since this is the first Burrito Mile in Georgia, we will have a new state record established in the state! Can the two athletes from the Peach State take down the records of the seasoned vetrans of Maryland??? We’ll find out soon!
Photos, details, and results will be posted on the Milton HS track web site and of course here on BurritoMile.com. The race will take place at Milton HS at approximately 4:10pm on March 29, 2007.
Walter Johnson High School raised $1,750 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society with Saturday’s Burrito Mile. Several T-shirts were sold and the Qdoba restaurant, who catered the event, sold out of all 300 burritos that they brought. Roughly one hundred people participated in 4 different races and at least one hundred more showed up to watch the festivities.
The highlight of the day was the brother-sister combination of Cedric and Brielle Dana each winning their respective races. Cedric, a senior at Wootton High School, won the elite 2-burrito mile in a time of 10:03. This race required participants to devour not one, but two 1.5 lb burritos before racing a mile. Cedric split right around five minutes for the eating and five minutes for the running to beat the next closest competitor by over a minute and a half.
Cedric convinced his older sister Brielle to participate in the open burrito mile. Brielle, a student at the University of Maryland, finished off her burrito in 3:00. She followed this up with a 6:46 mile to set the women’s burrito mile world record in a time of 9:46.
The fastest burrito mile time of the day came from Andrew Palmer, a freshman from Whitman High School. He ate his burrito in 2:38 and ran a 4:53 mile to set the men’s world record in 7:31.
The most impressive eater of the day was Ian Chow, who finished his burrito in 1:24. Unfortunately, Chow is not as gifted with the running aspect and fell several minutes behind Brielle Dana in the open race.
